Invisalign® Clear Braces

Invisalign® Clear Aligners Torrance, CA

Are you interested in straightening your teeth or correcting your bite but don’t want to wear traditional metal braces? Invisalign® clear braces might be a great option for you. They’re as effective as conventional options but are invisible and removable. We’re proud to offer Invisalign® retainers as an orthodontic treatment here at Dentist of Torrance.

What Are Invisalign® Clear Aligners?

Invisalign® aligners are a type of removable braces for your teeth that are created out of clear, BPA-free plastic. The aligners are completely clear and almost invisible. Each Invisalign® retainer is custom-crafted for the patient who will wear it based on an individualized treatment plan determined by our orthodontist.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

Just like traditional metal braces, Invisalign® clear aligners work by gently guiding your teeth from their starting position to their desired position. Metal braces must have the tension adjusted periodically to continue the shifting process. This isn’t needed with Invisalign® retainers. Instead, you switch from one retainer to another as your treatment progresses.

How Long Does Invisalign® Treatment Take?

Length of treatment is dependent on the issues being treated but generally ranges from a few months to two years. The doctor will discuss your projected treatment time with you during your consultation.

What Is the Treatment Process With Invisalign® Clear Aligners?

First, you will come into the Torrance dentist office for a consultation to determine if Invisalign® treatment is an option for you. Then a computerized 3D map of your mouth will be created and used to produce a series of aligners designed to gradually shift your teeth. You will wear each clear aligner for about two weeks before switching to the next one.

What Are the Advantages of Invisalign® Over Traditional Metal Braces?

Invisalign® clear aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat and drink without worrying about harming your braces. You will also be able to brush and floss like normal. They are nearly invisible; no one will notice you have them! Finally, the lack of wires and metal brackets lowers the chances of breakage and the need for emergency repairs.

What Are the Downsides of Invisalign® Retainers?

Invisalign® retainers aren’t suitable for everyone. They can’t be used to correct every orthodontic issue. The doctor will let you know if Invisalign® treatment is an option in your case. They may or may not be more expensive than traditional metal braces, depending on your individual needs.

How Long Do I Have To Wear My Invisalign® Aligners Every Day?

You should always wear your Invisalign® aligners except when eating, drinking, or brushing and flossing. They should also be removed for cleaning once per day. Your aligners must be in place for at least 20 hours per day to work properly.

How Old Do You Have To Be To Use Invisalign®?

Some children and teenagers use Invisalign® with great success. The most important factor is whether or not the child complies with treatment. Not wearing the Invisalign® retainers properly is a waste of time and money and may lead to the need for additional or extended orthodontic treatment.

Is There a Way To Help My Child Comply With Invisalign® Treatment?

Some pediatric Invisalign® aligners come with a special marker to help parents and the orthodontist monitor compliance.
