First Dental Visit

First Dental Visit Torrance, CA

Your new patient appointment is one of the most important dental visits you’ll ever have. During your first dental visit in Torrance, your dentist will review your dental history, evaluate your needs, and create a treatment plan. This visit also gives you the opportunity to get to know our team and tour our modern, innovative office.

Dental Paperwork

Before you even come into the Dentist of Torrance office, you’ll fill out our patient forms. You can do this online, which makes the process quick and easy. Plus, you don’t have to worry about forgetting to mail the forms or bring them to your first dental visit.

During your visit, we’ll review the forms with you, particularly your medical and dental health histories. This discussion helps us to get to know you and better understand your dental goals, all of which helps us provide you with custom dental services that fit your needs best.

Dental Records

If you’ve had dental x-rays or other diagnostic tests done recently with another dentist, we would love a copy. Having previous dental records on hand helps with our diagnostic process and can save you some time and money.

To receive your records, you’ll likely need to sign a privacy/information release at your precious dentist’s office before they can legally forward them to us.

Meet Our Team

Our team consists of dental assistants, dental hygienists, managers, coordinators, and of course, our dentists.

The support staff is made up of people who treat our patients with kindness and compassion. They’ve been in your shoes and know how reassuring it is to feel like you have a team of competent, caring people by your side.

Dr. Hamid Barkhordar

One of our Torrance dentists is Dr. Hamid Barkhordar, our orthodontic specialist. Dr. Barkhordar attended the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, followed by the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he studied orthodontics in-depth.

Dr. Omid Barkhordar

Another one of our Torrance dentists is Dr. Omid Barkhordar, also a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. During his time at USC, he studied general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and dentofacial orthopedics.

Both doctors are friendly, patient, and compassionate. They will treat you with respect and take the time to discuss your questions, concerns, and vision of your healthiest, most beautiful smile.

Comprehensive Oral Evaluation

Once all the paperwork is out of the way, we’ll proceed with our oral examination. During this part of your first dental visit, your Torrance dentist will evaluate your:

  • Teeth
  • Gums (overall)
  • Gum pocket depths
  • Jaw joints
  • Soft tissues for anomalies

They’ll also do an oral cancer screening and take x-rays if necessary. This exam, as well as the x-rays, will reveal whether you have any dental issues that need to be resolved, including:

  • Missing teeth
  • Dental decay
  • Broken, cracked, or chipped teeth
  • Gum disease
  • TMJ disorder
  • Oral cancer
  • Crooked or crowded teeth
  • Other teeth misalignment issues

Your Custom Treatment Plan

After your examination, your dentist will take what they’ve learned and create a custom treatment plan. The plan will include services that restore your teeth and gums to good health.

Your Torrance dentist can offer you a variety of treatment options based on your needs and dental goals (achieving the smile of your dreams regardless of cost vs. sticking to a strict budget).
